  • Weaving, Wabi Sabi and the Joy of Togetherness

West Cork Collective – Unique Gift Shop & Gallery now open.

Led by the powerful and inspiring energy of local textile artist, Rebecca Powell, a group of creatives is offering something truly special in the West Cork hub of Ballinspittle, with community at the heart of it.

A big part of Rebecca’s vision: giving local artists and creatives the opportunity to showcase their creations through the incredible power of community. As such, she has launched a unique gift shop and gallery in a small village in West Cork, aptly named the West Cork Collective, that opened its doors to the public Sunday March 2nd.

The founder of the Collective, Rebecca Powell, says, “We can do things alone, however, it just feels so much better doing it together. Together we can go places we otherwise only dream of. Together we can support each other.”

Poised right at the start of the Wild Atlantic Way, this retail space is well located for both locals and tourists and offers plenty of gift ideas as well as home decor and fashion accessories.

The space itself is available to rent for classes and tutorials, for support groups, as an art hub and so much more, as the goal of the collective is for it to be of real benefit to the local area as well as all those involved.

As for those actively putting their heart and soul into this project, their work ranges from artful weaving to exquisite oil and watercolour painting, elegant sterling silver jewellery to natural, locally-made creams and soaps, quirky pebble artwork to one-of-a-kind hats and scarves, heirloom and heritage products, nature inspired felted vessels and eco printed fabrics. The gallery houses a diverse collection of works from hand made papers, mixed media, weaving, seaglass art, canvas and framed art, prints and cards.

A selection of the many and varied creations can be seen here.

Check out our Members Directory that highlights each retail member and our Gallery Members Directory.

We are open 7 days, each day you get to meet a different member as they greet you in our shop and gallery.

Gift vouchers are available for that extra special friend or family member.
