Our first ever member’s summer exhibition has officially launched and what a fantastic event it was on Friday July 11th.
As ever, the collective came together and supported the phenomenal work of Rebecca and Ann in particular, to curate a beautiful collection of artwork by the groups’ members in the gallery. All previous artwork was removed and new pieces specifically for the month-long exhibition were all hung to create a cohesive and beautiful display.
Various members then put together, food, drink and completed all the general endless little jobs to get everything ready for a really fantastic evening.
Renowned artist, Caroline Smith, opened the launch and after more inspiring words from our chief of operations, Rebecca herself, the exhibition officially opened.
Between the incredible artwork, the delicious canapés and bubbly, and the gorgeous hot weather, the whole event felt as though you were at a fabulously exclusive artists’ exhibition somewhere in the Mediterranean, not a charming little village in the South-West of Ireland!
As part of the Kinsale Arts Weekend that we were participating in, we hosted a lino print workshop on Saturday evening with Solas agus Scáth that went down a treat, while our own member Elayne Greene gave an intimate painting demonstration on Sunday afternoon, offering a chance to see the work that goes into her intricate and complex style of painting.
The exhibition is a wonderful display of the power of community, once again it shows how people pulling together as a team can make great things happen.
The exhibition runs until August 8th, so there’s still plenty of time to pop into our special shop and gallery and browse the collection.

Which I think, in this age of mass production and globalisation, is something truly special to be able to do.
