Bio and artist statement

Liz Price

Inspired by the beautiful landscapes and seascapes around me, I use watercolour for its magical, atmospheric qualities. It has always been my medium of preference, but I have also painted on silk which can be equally as challenging.

I have lived in West Cork for most of my adult life, with a sojourn in France for several years. I love the softness of the natural world, particularly in Ireland, which I find has a certain melancholic beauty that suits my personality. I really enjoy painting skies with their constant changing patterns and colours. I also have a great attraction to ruined buildings as a painting subject, and how nature reclaims them.

As a member of Clonakilty, Bandon and Cnoc Bui art groups in West Cork I regularly exhibit with them.
